RBWH Trustee/ co-founder - Adrian Potts
“I soon learned that they are good people who, like everyone, sometimes made mistakes.”
who he is
Adrian is ex-Army having served in a variety of locations from Cold War Berlin to Belfast during the troubles. He then spent 30 years in the manufacturing and supply chain of the fashion industry working across the world from China to Ukraine.
He co-founded a social enterprise Remade With Hope to run industrial workshops inside prisons to provide purposeful activity and training for prisoners with the view to act as a catalyst for rehabilitation. He realised that any progress an individual can make inside prison can be quickly lost post-release without the necessary support.
“I soon learned that there are good people in Prison, some who should not be there who, like everyone, have made mistakes. They needed more than signposting, they needed work and skill and colleagues"
his story
Adrian believes coming out of prison is the most complicated part of the process and wanted to work to bridge this gap. Working with Louise Atherton they developed the concept of Rebuild With Hope to provide direct employment, skills training and the wrap-around support needed to help the transition into work in the community.
"We are interested in the individual but in helping rehabilitation we are reducing reoffending which is a benefit to the community and the taxpayer"
They have broadened the Rebuild objects to include other groups of people who are facing long-term barriers to employment. With Adrian's investment and specialist guidance and expertise from Louise the charity is growing in it's reach and impact.
